We just came back from our 3week holiday to discover we had lost 4 of our tetras :( I also notice that several of the remaining fish look like their stomachs are flat. I had used holiday feeders and got a friend to feed them mid break.

I have fed them bloodworms yesterday but it hasnt improved.... What may be the cause?

The holiday feeders will only have lasted a week/10 days and then would have been gone or disintegrated to nothing. Your friend feeding them mid-break would have been good timing - so long as they did turn up on time and then didn't overfeed.

If the holiday food blocks sat on the bottom of the tank this may not have been found by the tetras as all of mine are mid water to top swimmers and feeders in my tank. Did u add floating food sticks for the top of the tank dwellers?

Did your friend turn up? When?

It may not be too bad a thing for them to have had a bit of a diet - as we all know underfeeding is better than over feeding but do watch them all closely for other problems that they may now be more susceptible too (ich etc) and be careful not too be tempted to overfeed and 'spoil' them as the sudden extra polution could cause a ammonia spike.

He says he fed them after 14days. I had left a prepacked dose of holiday food and some freeze dried tubifex worms. He emptied this into the tank. So no extras.....
