I am going away on holiday for 2 weeks leaving my fish at home. Leaving on Friday. The thing is the lights. There isn't anyone who can come in and switch the lights on every day and come back and switch them off. I hvae tried 2 different types of timers, one isn't suitable, the other has a 18W, and my lights are 20W, so what will happen if I leave the lights off for 2 weeks?

Its both my tanks in my sig which are affected, as I can't move the shrimp else he'll eat everything.

What else can I do?

Just buy two of the cheap dial timers which have the little buttons you push down for the time you want the lights on, Wickes sell a pack of 3 for under a tenner. I use these and although they say they are unsuitable for flourecent lights they work perfectly.

It is best to have the lights set to go on and off to give the fish a sense of day and night.

Yeh, get some nice cheap ones.

I use ones labelled as imersion heater timers which can be hard wired into the system rather than putting tit in the socket.

I bought two digital ones from e-bay a few months back. I have been using them ever since with no problems, just enter on & off times and you can even put in times for a "siesta".

I'm also using 3 cheap ones on my other tanks and they also work fine, I got 3 for £5

The one that said it wasn't suitable is a plug in one from Homebase, for £4.99, and it said not suitable for flourescent tube lighting. hat will happen if it is unsuitable?

Got mine from B & Q. Brilliant, they must have the best selection I've ever seen, unbelievable. Forget Argos, Homebase and All the other Suido electrical stores like Currys etc. Get down to a big B & Q. For some reason It won't let me post a pic hear, don't know why, but it's Crap. :/   :< :rip: ???? :byebye: :byebye:
