:D hey, im off to sunny Cyprus on Sunday for a week of Scuba Diving.

My tank has been running 3 weeks, and has 8 fish. My LFS gave me a Betta Food Block to put in it while im away, that slowly dissolves.

What do you guys think. I was going to ask a friend to bob in tues or wed and feed them (and not put a block in). Would that be enough

If your friend can do a midweek feed thats best !!!

EDIT: Do a water change before you leave and feed them live/frozen food. Thats what I do.

What are the fish, and how many?

If it's just for a week, I'd feed them before you leave then feed them when you get home.

If you have a friend feed them meanwhile, ensure you leave them premeasured portions or it's almost certain that your friend will overfeed them and foul the water.

Don't use a fish block, they contain chemicals that change the water chemistry.

;) there are 2 Zebra Danios, 2 Scissortails, 4 Platies and unknown amount of platie babies hiding in there. seen 4 - 5 but the next day only one, then 3 then 2,....... you know how it goes lol.

Never have used a food block in all my years of fish-keeping (35+), I would agree with Sir Minion, make sure they are fed before you leave, feed them again when you get back. If it is a healthy established aquarium, there will be bits of algae, etc. for them to nibble at...not really an un-natural scenario at all for the fish. Assuming that your lights are on a timer, or will be?

:D yeah my lights are on a timer, 8am - 8 pm. Ill feed them sunday mornign before i leave, and my mate will feed them once on weds, then ill sort them out on sunday when i get back, and do a good water change.

Any one ever seen any automatic feeders??

yep you can get auto feeders but if you have the option of using a mate to feed. thats your best option unless your going away quite often then it may be a wise investment.
