Holes In Fins!

Why is my new betta starting to get patches of holes through his fins? What to do to fix?

Dunno but sounds like fin nippers.

We had that with Steve and we just kept the water clean and fed him well and it cleared up on its own. You could try melafix or stress coat.

what do the holes look like? are the jagged or smooth and almost perfectly round? Does he flare a lot?

Small round holes in the fins are almost always indicative of water quality issues, especially ammonia. What are your water stats, what size tank do you have, and what is your cleaning schedule?

My female had a couple of very small round holes in her fins when we got her. Found out it was just from her flaring alot. The holes have healed up entirely though.
Could this be what your betta's problem is?

the holes are almost perfectly round..i change the water once a week.

he does flare quite a bit, should i worry if it doesn't heal within a couple of days?

Keep his water nice and clean and add a bit of salt (1/2 tsp/gallon) the holes should heal right up!

My female's holes took a while to heal up, but they eventually did. As Jaded suggested.. just keep the water clean and he should be fine
