HOB filter making grinding noise

My hob filter started making a grinding noise when i woke up today. Its not terribly loud, but loud enough that i can hear it across the room. How can i get it to stop? i tried cleaning out the impeller and the tubes that the impeller goes into. Is there anything else i coudl try?

I was going to say take apart the impeller and clean out the magnet and also a grinding noise means that the tube might be dirty. Do you have sand in your tank?

Occasionally impellers need to be replaced if they have somehow got damaged, if a good cleaning doesn't fix the problem, this may be what you have to do.

is it flowing ? maybe it is still trying to prime itself
