my ten gallon (yuh, ten gallon) tank has the following inhabitants:

1 Betta
1 Silver-Tipped, 2 Black Neons, 3 Neons
2 Mickey Mouse Platties, 1 Assorted Platy *Pregnant*
4 Kuhliis
1 African Dwarf Frog

my parameters are all fine (shockingly) but i'm not quite sure if i'd like to keep the Tetras around. one is quite ill, he's been swimming quite twitchy and erratic-like for about a week, losing color, chewy fins, headstanding. i'm removing him definately, but that lowers my entire Tetra count which is already the bare minimum for a mixed-school, which they aren't doing. should i just remove the Tetras altogether?

Its better to have larger numbers of each species of tetra. They usually don't feel safe unless there are about six of their own species. I would recommend getting rid of them all. Neons are whimpy fish that constantly die off (at least thats my opinion of them!). It doesn't really sound like you want any tetras either. Go for something that isn't so gregarious.

-shakes head- i'm not too fond of Tetras, my dad bought them for me though so i didn't exactly have the heart to say 'take 'em back'.

-nods- i will remove the little bugs, though it may take a while and a lot of uprooted plants. any ideas as to how i can easily remove them without rehauling my entire aquarium?
