my female guppy whos been pregnant for ages now still sint eating much but shes swimming round fine.
I have left tank light off for 48 hours now and no sign of any fry yet.
She keeps swimming to where my mickey mouse platys are so could she be lonely as shes only guppy I have left
I have her in a 62 litre (I think ) tank with 2 mickey mouse platys 5 neon tetras and 2 kribs.there is 3 live plants that go from bottom to top of tank with good hiding places and 8 artificial plants and an ornament that only the kribs seem to go to.
should I mayby get her a companion or is there anythign else I can do.
I checked water today and its fine and the tank temp is 80f
Thanks for any help

I know that my guppy is ready to give birth when her stomach is larger at the back near the anal fin, it is like they (fry) move down to get in position. as far as being lonely, my guppys stay with each other, and not around my platies. I would get another female and male if it were me. Good luck with your new upcoming fry

I did get her with a male and another female but the male died a couple days after we got im and the other female a week later. I was gonna wait till shes had these but think Ill go get another male and female.

I know how u feel. Mine has been preg. for at leat 28 days.....that is how long ago I bought her. Now I have a male and another female too, but she must be at least that pregnant. She is very large, but I am worried that something is wrng. I put her in a breeding tank again last night but no fry this morning.....

I am wondering if I have her too stressed??

Dunno what to do.............

The worst thing you can do is move them -_-
Best to just leave them alone, keep tank light off most of the time and ensure that there are plenty of places for cover for her to give birth. If they feel things are not right and don't feel relaxed they won't give birth and will hold onto the fry until they think its safe.
So leave well alone..tank light off...just turn on ever now and again to keep a check on things. temp at around 80/81degress. No new commers to the tank.. just leave the whole set up well alone. If you have to do a water change then try and keep well away from her, and just change the water and avoid the gravel cleaning until about 24 hours after she has given birth.
She will give birth when she's ready, but the more you mess, the less likely a good outcome for mother and fry
Patience is the name of the game..lol  Shame were all not so good at that one  ;)

I'm in the same boat too. My guppy Rosie is fit to burst. But still I wait and wait.

I posted a message the other day for some reassurance it might help you Here

That was Aug 26th, its now Aug 30th and still no change.

I am not trying to move her, I will catch what fry I can and put them into the Baby tank (Last time I caught 20 mostly they found their way to the filter and hid, that where I caught them).

Patience is hard, I know i am struggling with it - Good Luck, and hope we all get successful births soon. :D :D

Ok went against advice and got another female and a male guppy.
They have settled into tank well but the female looks pregnant to me.
Hubby says probably all guppys are fat with agravid spot and not pregnant so Im gonna try taking pics.
Kinda hard everytime I go near tank with camera they hide lol but Ill keep trying and hopefully have some babies very soon.
Patience is a virtue I dont have lol.

Hi there, hope everything is moving n the right direction for you. Sorry to hear your having problems. I too had problems with my Guppie not long ago, she had 1 fry, which died 4 days later and I think the others died inside her. Just keep lisning to the advice that people give you on here, some of it sure helped me out. My platty is preggy now so hopefully thinbgs will go better.

Good luck
Yvonne
