I have been looking at my water stats to see how suited my area is to Mbuna. I have a thread running in tropical chit chat that was trying to resolve my PH, GH and KH testing questions. During the thread I have learnt that perhaps my water is not the most appropriate, but CFC (the Mod) said that I should post the details into this forum to see what feedback i might get.

EDIT: after seeing the latest reply in this thread, CFC has noticed a mistake and has said that it might be possible, but trusts the advice of the fine people in the african cichlids forum here.. so.. going on the latest news, do you have any recommendations.. I would really like to know what your PH, and KH is, and how you go about maintaining your optimum water quality.

If you get a chance, could you have a quick browse through the thread below and let me know your thoughts.

That works.

You should test ph of your tap water after about an hour of sitting in a glass.

Anyhow your ph is the same as mine, If you went for a malawi tank with coral sand substrate it would bring your ph and kh up making it great for mbuna.

IMO dont bother with additives to change your water its expensive and a real pain to keep right and it does not last causing a varying ph.

A stable ph is more important. As i said your ph is the same as mine and i have wild caught fish breeding in it so i know its about right for them.
