hello, i first bought some HM and it melted on me i assumed this was because of poor ferts and no co2 ive since started using both and purchased more HM and exactly the same thing seems to be happening the part of the plants where its planted is going yellow and looks to be dying
am i planting it right or is my water table missing somthing?
im using a 36watt power compact
diy co2
EI dosing
ph 6.6
and heres a picture to demonsterate what i mean

Your HM looks suspisciously like Micranthemum umbrosum to me. Give it time and it should start to grow like mad. I have thrown tons of this stuff away, and it must be the fastest growing plant I have ever had.

I find that mine can grow really quite dense and produce some brown stems in the centre where it is shielded from the light, so I have to thin it out at times. If you can, try and get hold of a pot of Tropica. I bought a single pot about three months ago and could filled my 120l tank three times over with the growth I have got from it since.

Dave.

the bunch i had before the few bits that have pulled through have totaly diffrent leaves could it be that they have been grown in the air? please note they only arrived on tuesday though and have turned since arriving could this be them addapting and im being overly worried?
ill try and track down some tropica but i went with greenline because i know hes good
do you plant yours singly or as bunches? ive planted mine as punches of 10-15 stems the first time i planted singularly where possible though, id get another picture close but but i dont want to disturb the otto's more than i already have

It could be that Greenline have grown it emersed, most of their plants are. Most of my Tropica plants are grown emersed as well, but the Micranthemum umbrosum seems to have been an exception.

I usually plant mine in bunches of around two stems, because I have found it to really fill out once I start pruning it. I use Greenline a lot, but I have found that they can misidentify plants occassionally. I bought what I thought was Didiplis diandra, but ended up with Rotala sp `Nanjenshan`.

At the moment I am waiting for my MU to really grow in before I start pruning it again, as my tank has just been rescaped, otherwise I would send you a bunch. Mind you, it shouldn`t be long before I am hacking away at it.

ahh thank you, fingers crossed mine pulls through if not i dont mind paying for a bunch of yours. greenline are brilliant though i bought some monosolenium from him which had unfortunatly gained an infestation of critters and died and when i contacted him suggesting he should quarentine it he sent me replacements free of charge even though i never even suggested that i wanted them!
but yeah back to the hm i think it should pull through its just weird that its losing colour when every other plant in there is showing pearling

woke up this morning and one of the bunches was free floating so i took the oppertunity to replant only to find that id pulled up the bunches needlessly since all but one had started to take root, regardless i replanted them this time in bunches of 2-4 stems and fingers crossed that should be it.
i hope it donest go the same way as my first bunch and melt entirely that would be the most annoying thing
