Well i just bought some plants and they came with about 3 snails
Last time i bought planst they came with a shrimp (whom i haven't seen since)
My question is are the snails ok or will they become a problem as i've grown attached to them in the 5mins that i had them for...

they look like different species though one has a ring shaped shell, the other had a rounded shell and i think yet another has a pointed shell. They all have dark bodies

Most snails that come on plants are just annoying little buggers. They will probably multiply until you have about three thousand of them (no matter what size the tank is). It sounds cruel but I would suggest killing the snails before they can become the cockroaches of your tank. Or get a fish that eats snails like some gourami species or some cichlid species.

If you put a piece of lettuce in the tank they will probably flock onto it and you can take them out..and do whatever with them.

I had them and they ruined all my plants. :)

Unless you want an infestation in the future, I'd get rid of them. I just finished removing about 300 (literally) trumpet snails from my 29 gallon, and I've still got a swarm

oops put them in before i read this... looking at the site, i think they're ramshorn
oh well

if they are trumpet snails just turn the heat down, the young cant survive in low heat :/ but that may not be possible depending on what fish you have. hope it helps :D

well there are only 3, so i can get them out... I tried feeding one to my betta, but it just beat it up. :)

or get a clown loach tey are cheap and readily available. I know the get really big eventually but grow really slowly so have the sense to get rid of them or get a bigger tank before they need it.

They will OBLITERATE any snail infestation you have. They will even often harrass to death 2 inch Ram's horns that are way to big for them to eat.

Not to mention they are very unique fish and a joy to own.

Carl

dont just get a clown loach for your snail pro they grow to about a 1'.
