Hillstream Loaches

If I do add a dither I only want a decent shoal of one species, it just depends on which is least likely to predate on eggs or fry which is why I am not sure about dithers at all.

Well, dont bother then, its too much of a risk for the babies and eggs.

Thats easy, if its a choice between loach babies and dithers its got to be babies hands down...
Couldn't you add dithers for a short while to get the loaches confidence up then re-home them?
Hope you had a good trip to manchester :good:

Confidence isn't a problem, they are very active and don't mind anybody approaching the tank. The Gastromyzon Ocellatus are very confident and always at the front of the tank and if they are fine then the others seem to be as well, even the baby Sewellia lineolata that I already have in there are at the front on the cobbles most of the time.

Didn't see much of Manchester but the cargo area at the airport was nice  and it rained as per usual

Yes, Manchester is well known for its spiffy cargo areas :p
The rain however is a surprise  Manchester is IMHO the Carribean of the UK....

Have you decided on your dithers or are you going to leave the loaches to it?

Looks like I am not going to bother with dithers after all, for a while at least :)

I have already seen at least one male P. cheni showing signs of spawning activity and a couple of the larger females have got considerably plumper over the last couple of days, so fingers crossed :hyper:
