Just picked up the latest PFK today. Would any of the fish i have benefit from or even be bothered by the alge wafers?

My fish are in my sig.

Guess it can't hurt. The peas i feed occasionally don't last long. And my guppies cleared the bogwood of alge when my tank was new.

I'm not sure if any of your fish would even go for it. From my experience, anything outside of a bottom feeder seems to completely ignore it.

hikari algae wafers...
my mbuna cichlids LOVE them (they practically kill each other over it, sometimes i need to remove it before they finish it just to calm them down)
my synocat LOVES them(he beats off every last mbuna so he can have it to himself)
my neons LOVE them
my danios LOVE them
my SAEs LOVE them
(not all in the same tank by the way in case anyone was getting concerned :)

I was pretty chuffed with the free sample in PFK(a big boost for a fist time reader). I wasn't so sure my Corydoras or any of my fish would eat it, but I remembered the Catfish pellets I give them I think has algae in, so I just thought "Well, it's free, it's worth a try.".

The Corydoras loved them, I put in a whole one which was far too big for three but the Corydoras just kept muching at it with all the Tetras swarming around them, I imagine the snails had a go at them too. By morning it was gone(and I put it in about 10 at night).

It seems good, I'm taking my Corydoras off the pellets and just giving broken up Hikari Algae Wafers for a while to see if there's any difference. I might consider getting a proper pack for some variety.

What I'm trying to say is, in my field of knowledge, I see that you have some Guppys and Neons. They should enjoy it(not sure if my Tetras did eat it but they eat anything the Corydoras enjoy and were crowded around it so I have a feeling that might have.)

yeah try it, break them up small and chuck a few in, loads of our fish will eat them given half a chance. we even tried our oscar on one once, he spat it out looking disgusted though, the expression on his face just said 'where's my meat?!?!' definately a carnivore! lol

I don't know what your fish are but maybe there is something wrong with them. Unless total carnivore like puffers, pirahnas, gars, and others.... they will love these things. All my fish dart to them as soon as they break the water surface and push eachother to get nibbles at the discs. It's almost rediculous

Well i gave them some peas tonight, i'll perhaps try them tomorrow and see what happens.

Yeah my platties love them too. They seem to like most things though, krill pellets are a favourite of theirs though

Since everyone else is have good experiences with the wafers, maybe my bottom feeders swarm it too quickly. Seconds after I drop it in, my cories swarm it. A minute later, the snails join in. At times, they all look like they're eating each other since the disc disappears in the swarm.

Our Cories, Loaches and all of the tetras love them. Hell, even our ADF has munched on them before :)

I put half of a wafer (in two pieces) into our 29 gallon every morning and it's gone withing the hour

while cories will definitely enjoy an algae treat, they still need a diet that is primarily carnivorous. so don't take them off of pellets completely.
