I have been trying to keep the water temp. in my puffer tank down but with the hot weather its been really hot in my apartment. The temp. right now is around 83 but was at one point around 86... I have kept it down with small water changes (cold water) and floating bags of ice. I have also increased the oxygen as much as possible. The puffer seems to be fine so far, but Im worried about the filter bacteria. Will fluctuations like this kill them? Any info and advice on this would be great.

Tetraodon nigroviridis should be fine at temperatures up to 83 degress, a little higher won't do any harm. The filter bacteria is somewhat sensitive to fluctuation in temperatures, but ti actually thrives around 85 degrees. I would not be worried, just try to keep the temperature stable and looks for signs of stress on the puffer.
