My Dorset tap water has a level if 75 for nitrate so water changes are obviously not making much effect on high levels. The aquarium is a Biorb 60l. HELP!

What brand of test kit are you using?

Depending on the level of TDS in your tap you will see phosphates and nitrates. Personally I use RO/DI water to avoid this as I know the tap water where I live is very hard.

Interpet aquatic treatment tablets

Our water is very hard too, the kettle quickly covers in lime scale

I just got tired of dealing with it. Some places have great water, I live in the desert so all our water is either from deep wells, which are high in mineral content, or brought in via canals and are...you guessed it...high in mineral content!

Which part of Dorset are you? I have the reports from Sembcorp for Bournemouth here and I give you the official figures.

Just looked in Wessex waters website, our supplier. Nitrate levels should be 29.8 sO maybe my tablet test kit is wrong as the nitrates were def around the 75 mark! Will retest tomorrow!
