How long has your tank been set-up ?

NitrAtes at 40ppm are not so high.

In some parts it comes out of the tap at 40ppm, so it shouldn't be your nitrates causing the problem.

Wow that is good to know about the Nitrates!!!!Thank's so much!!! I am running another test on the ammonia right now.So could you please tell me how to get the ammonia down and what all are my level's suppose to be at?Thank's to all of you for your response's!!!!!!

O,my tank has been up about 2 1/2 month's now.And my Ph is 0,Ammonia is .025.I am using the liquid kit.Do I need to bring my temp down a lil?Thank's so much!!

pH can't be zero :) It's most probably betwen 6 and 8 (7 being neutral, 6 slightly acidic and 8 alkaline).

Do regular (daily) 10% water changes and your ammonia will drop.

Do not add any new fish until your level remains at zero for a good couple of weeks.

The Nitrogen Cycle will explain why you have ammonia in your water.

Well it can be - but acid that concentrated would dissolve stainless steel never mind guppies!! pH 0 is about 10,000 times more concentrated than stomach acid (which is about pH 4, if I remember correctly!) and that dissolves my fish and chips! :hey:

sorry I should have explained :) you are absolutely right - it can be.

However normal tap water (for human consumption) isn't and can't be ;)
