I have about 1.5 x the inch per gallon rule in my tank so I am quite overstocked.

I am heavily planted as well with about 60-75% of the substrate planted

I have a lot of heavy eaters 100% of the tank is Vallis, Ludwigia, Hygrophilya, Echinidorus, Cryptocoryne, Cabomba.

I use Tropica Plant Nutrition (Not plus) as this is the one for a high fishload.

My question is with this amount of fish do I need to dose any N or P or K?

Andy

It will depend on what is in your tap water to start with, plus how much you feed the fish.

Since I introduced fish in to my tank I have had to hold back on the phosphates. If you are using EI and find you don`t require much dosing of N and P it may be an issue of getting the K in the tank. I don`t have this problem, but I think people dose Potassium Sulphate to keep the K levels up.

Cheers, Dave.

Dave is right, if the P and N in the tank are normally high even with the high plant load then you dont need to dose extra P and N. EI is flexible enough to match it to your needs, so just use the trace and as Dave says perhaps some K.

Would the K stop my swords from getting the yellow/brown spots? By 1.5 x fish I do mean it I have about 45 inches of fish in this fully planted 29G tank. They are all OK but want the plants to be too. (I rehomed 10 fish in 1 go and
until their lives are fulfillled I feel obliged to keep them.)

All the plants are OK with the exception of the Swords!!! I know I still have the low light, and therefore the Riccia is now floating as it was dying a death, tied down.

The swords in the centre (directly under the light are lush green , with a coating of Algae fur, which the mollies like to munch on) The Sword on the right away from the light gets large yellow circles in the outer leaves. Is it just the light thats the problem?

I am using 10ml Tropica Plant Nutrition after water changes (once a week) Is it better to put 1.5ml each day? or should I be putting more than 10ml in (The instructions say 5ml per 50L and there will be about 100Ltr actual water in my tank

Could well be the light, sometimes plants just dont like being where you put them, just one of those things.

I would leave the trace as it is.
