I posted this in the discussion section, but i realized it will probably get better answers here, i apologize for the discrepancy..

I have two long finned rosey barbs in my tank, one is male and one is female. For the past 2 or 3 days i have noticed the female is hiding inside of a rock, or almost laying on the bottom of the tank. At one point i thought she was dead, but every now and then she gets up and swims. I also noticed that when the female would come out, the male would chase her until she hides again. She is eating normally, its just that she keeps hiding. Is there anyway to perk her up, or keep the male from harassing her?

Tank Specs:

-5 Gallon hexagonal tank
-20% water change on Tuesday
-Fed with tropical flakes
-Water is fine (ammonia, nitrates, nitrites)
-Added some cycle when I saw she wasn't doing well

Realistically the only effective option would be to buy a new, decent sized tank and add some more tiger barbs.
Don't add any more to the 5gallon though, that'd be making things worse.
You could try rearranging the tank decor in the hope of breaking territories up but i doubt this'd last long due to the unsuitable size.
If you can't get a new tank then add as much decor as possible to provide the poor girl with plenty of hiding space, or consider returning one of the barbs.

I think he said Rosey Barbs, not tiger barbs. My opinoin would be to get 2 more females. That way the Male rosey barb will go after 1 female at a time, giving the other 2 females a chance to relax :good:

Yes i think he did! Muchos Gracias Zeoth!
Nevertheless this;
Tank Specs:
-5 Gallon hexagonal tank
Suggests to me that adding anymore fish would be a bad idea?
No?
4 x 2-3" active, semi aggressive, shoaling fish in a 5gal sounds like a bit much to me.....
Just my 'opinoin' though....
