G'day - new to forum, thought I'd take the time to say hi :)

I curently have two tanks:

1. 120L Tropical tank
2. Betta tank

Fish are in my sig.

Hope I can contribute here, and am hoping I can gain some valuable advice from experienced keepers. I am fairly new to tropicals.

Welcome to the forum! :hi:

I was reading your signature, and it seems you have males and female Bettas together? You might want to seperate them, as they really should not be together unless you are breeding them. Males will usually rip females up, and can sometimes kill them. So it's best they be seperate. Sorry, just a tip I couldn't resist. :*)

Anyway, have fun around the forum! And if you have any questions, feel free to ask. :D

My males are a little odd - they are used to the females now, and one of them especially has never chased the female with him.

The other one was a bastard (pardon the language), for a few days, but they have all settled in nicely. The females have plenty of places to hide in plants and ornaments.

Thanks for your advice though, I'll keep an eye on them to make sure they behave. I do have the option of keeping all four fish separate, as I have 2 more dividers that arenot currently in the tank.

hi :hi:

ahhhh they are seperated! yes would seperate all them!

The only problem with Bettas, is they can be unpredictable. They could look fine, then one day he can turn around and kill her. You also don't know how much picking is going on during the night, which is when they are usually the worst. She could be getting stressed out, and this can make her more prone to disease, or make her have a shorter lifespan.

It's just better for all of them to be seperated. Or you could just keep the females, and get a few more, and try a female Betta community. Careful though, these don't always work.
