Hi! I am currently part of a bird forum, but have downsized my collection of birds to only 2 with two chicks in a nest.

I used to keep mollies, swordtails, guppies, platies, rainbow sharks, corydora, gourami and angel fish.

I also had zebra, yellow lab and a few other species as far as African Cichlids go.

I had Convict, Firemouth Meeki, Severum, Oscars, and Jack Dempsey's as far as NewWorld Cichlids.

I have never had satlwater, but my uncle had clown, tomato red clowns, lionfish, butterfly tang, hippo fish, madarin goby, puffers, eals and damsels, so I have a bit of experience through him.. He now has a large silver arowana, 2 oscars and an aligator gar in his big tank.

(I hope I am not rambling) Anyways, my name is Dante and since I have downsized my finch hobby I am getting back into fish.. and I found this forum and it looks fun!

Now I am stuck, I have a 55gallon setup with crushed coral sand, and various decor (i can do a planted tank if need be) But should I do African Cichlids or stock it with large sailfin male mollies?

Really? What speciesdid you have? I had zebra, society and waxbill finches.. I now have one BB male zebra with two chicks and a budgie. What forum do you belong to?

I reckon you could have a really nice 55 gallon cichlid tank.

Hi,I bred lots of melopsittacus undulatus, ( Budgies,..lol) colour canaries, and zebra finches,am a member of budgerigars forum proboards, and Adorable Budgies

Hi Llegmore,I would stick to your temperamental budgie, love birds go in pairs and you need ear plugs for a cockatoo.....lol

lol. Well it's my dad who's set on love birds. I just know I'd end up looking after them. The budgie's well noisy enough. Every time I'm chopping veg - "chop" "CHEEP" "chop" "CHEEP"

Me too! She bites, and is evil!! You do not want a lovebird, they are very very loud and worse biters than budgie. Cockatoos are dusty.. GreenCheek conures are quiet and great companions! How many africans can I put in a 55?

brian1, I also bred zebras, they are very nasty and aggressive.. I had English which are large and they had fertility issues, I plan on breeding my budgie she is yellow face 2 opaline sky blue pied

African cichlids are great cause you can keep lots together and they are beautiful

Hi Dante,yes Zebs can be, mine used to try and stop the canaries sitting eggs, a little bird with attitude.......lol; should be nice chicks from them....good luck with breeding

I'm really glad it's not just me with a bitey budgie. I always think I've done something wrong to make mine so aggressive.

Llegmore, they really need to be handfed to establish a bond with people, some may step up but are usually aggressive.. there is a birdmart in a 5 days and I will be buying her a mate.

crazyforcorydoras, they are very relaxing, especially quieter species that are colorful like goudlain finche,s but once you get one finch you will soon have alot, they are addicting!!

So today I bought a 20gallon long tank, set it up with crushed coral sand, and a large sunken ship on the right side, I will be planting the right side with some swim space in the middle. I wantd occelatus or other shell dwellers but cannot find any so I am getting wild colored mollies.. I will set up my 55 gallon when I have more time. BTW Petco is having a a dollar per gallon sale unitl the 21st!
