Hi, I am new to the forum. I currently own a juwel trigon 190 Tropical tank. Hope to get lots of friendly advice as I'm currently having bother with white spot disease.
Hi I currently have 2 mollies, 2 Honey Gouramies, 2 3 spot Gouramies, 1 common pleco, 10 silvertip tetras, 2 upside down catfish, 2 Angel fish, 2 Congo Tetras. Tank Been up and running for around 5 years. Had whitespot disease before but easily treated. Currently treating with king British whitespot control but only adding half recommend dosage because of catfish and pleco. I always test my own water and all is fine in that department. Turned temperature up to 26. No deaths yet but spreading like a wildfire. Did buy new fish but they were quarantined before adding to tank. I also added stress zyme.
What fish do you have and how long has your tank been running? Was it cycled at all? Whitespot is normally easily cured with a med from your LFS (local fish shop), but is often caused by stress from poor stocking or poor water quality. Have you had your water tested, or do you test it yourself?
Thanks, it's early days yet. Only on second half dosage treatment. Fingers crossed.Welcome!Sounds like you have everything under control! Good job! I don't like to use meds if I don't have to. The only treatment for white spot I have ever used is upping the temp and salt. Some day that's not going to be good enough and I will have to medicate.
I telephoned King British for advise and was told to only use half dose every 48hrs as Pleco and catfish are sensitive to this treatment. You don't need to half dose with catfish and plecs; it's only scaleless fish like loaches that you have to be careful of.
