Hi, new member from the north east.

just cycling my 48 litre fish box, currently on the back end of a bacteria bloom and nearly ready for my fish.

:good:

Welcome :good:

Whats your plans for your stocking

thanks for the welcome, gonna start with some neon tetras and then some livebearers prob guppys and a some variation of plec B-)

:hi: to the forum.

I'm afraid your tank's going to be too small for any plec; and you might want to get only get male livebearers, or you'll be overrun with fry in no time!

thanks for the advice, are ther any algae eaters that will be suitable for my tank ? shrimp ?

Shrimp will eat some algae (and are fascinating and beautiful creatures; I highly recommend them), but there are no 'algae eaters' that will keep a tank algae free; that's down to you I'm afraid!

+1!! i completely agree with fluttermoth. unfortunately cleaning is our job!! shrimps are great though...very interesting. remember that tetras are shoaling fish and should be kept in groups. also, guppys and live bearers are quite hardy and would be better added before the tetras. this is just my opinion but i have always been more successful adding them as the first fish in the tank. good luck!!

L :good:

Ive found amano shrimp to be the best clean up. But algae is to do with other issues anyway.

Also i would start with livebearers (males) before neons, they prefer more mature tanks

aww, i was gona get them a sponge and a squeegee to clean the tank :hyper: looks like i have to clean it myself :good:

cheers for the advice about getting the livebearers first, i`ll be getting some on Wednesday.

cant wait, to get started.

Can i put a shrimp or two straight in ?

Shrimps are quite sensitive; I'd get your livebearers and monitor your ammonia and nitrite for a week or two before you add shrimps, just to make sure your filter's coping :good:
