Hi just wanted to say hello. found this forum a few days ago and it been really useful i have a 60 ltr or 15 gal tank. with just two platys in atm waiting to see how they do before adding more.
If you added the fish as soon as you set your tank up, you will need to keep a good eye on the ammonia and nitrite levels to make sure they don't get up. They really should be at 0 but will rise during the cycling period before the bacteria has a chance to build up. You are smart to wait before adding any more fish.
had my tank just over a week now got the water tested today ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 20 ph 6.5 gh 4 kh 3 phosphate 0.1 iron 0.5 so i broght some more fish 2 swordtails a black shark and a damation molly. hope they do aswell as the platys
I wouldn't add any more fish until you get through the cycling phase. If you've only had the first 2 fish in the tank for less than a week, you probably haven't seen the ammonia have time to build up. Adding more fish is going to make the spikes higher. Keep a good eye on the ammonia and nitrite as they will definitely go up unless you used something like Bio Spira or filter media from an established tank to cycle the tank. Also, unless you plan to upgrade to at least a 100 gallon tank, you should return the black shark as soon as possible. They grow up to 2' long and need a huge tank. Check this link for more info on them.
