I'm glad to have found this site. Before joining I have read a lot of the posts and have learned a lot from the information here. Everyone seems very friendly and I look forward to being a part of this forum.

I am a newbie. A friend of mine had a 30 gallon tank and a few fish that she no longer wanted to mess with (I think she woke up in a new world that morning). She asked me if I wanted to buy it. Having always enjoyed watching fish and admiring them for their beauty I jumped on the idea. She got it set up in my office and transfered her fish back into the tank. Off to the races, or so I thought.


Having recently lost every fish in the tank I decided that as much as I love my friend, she had a lot to learn about fish and I had even more to learn. I started reading everything I could get my fingers on about freshwater aquariums and looking for a forum to join.

Sooooo......long story short here I am. A newbie with an empty tank that I am in the process of cycling.

Hello Dawn and welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear that you lost all the fish. It's good that you are researching now before restocking your tank. There are a lot of very knowledgable people here so ask all the questions you want. You should get plenty of good advice. If you are cycling, there is a link in my signature that may help clarify fishless cycling as there are a lot of different methods. Good luck.
