) hi there. im new here so be gentle please. im pretty new to fish keeping too. i started in Jan of this year when my son got a fish tank for christmas. we have a 20 gallon tank with 2 black long skirt tetras(i think thats what they're called;2 albino tetra's;2 cobra guppies(m);1 black molly(m);2 orange molly's(m)(i think sailfin);1 red platy(m)(dwarf i think);1 albino cory;1 green cory and 6, 6 week old platy. i also have a 10 gallon tank with 1 molly(f);2 platy(f) and 1 guppy(f). also i bitty fry at 10 days old.
Actually, his tanks fine provided he does weekly or bi-weekly water changes of at least 10-15%.
However, the problem is the type of stock you have. All tetras like to be kept in groups. They are at their best and they're least stressed when in groups because they feel safe from predators that way. This is true for your skirts and albinos (definitely for the skirts b/c I have them and they're skittish). Also, cories like to be kept in groups of the same species, but if they school with each other then they're fine.
Just invest in a five gallon hospital tank and you shouldn't have any problems if something bad happens (don't worry, it's a precaution. No eminent doom ).
the cory's do love to frolick together and the 4 tetras do too.once things get settled down a little more i might get some more. we change the water once a week with a bit of a vac. thanks for the advice
