hi, i'm new to having an aquarium... i'm driving myself crazy reading so much...

questions:
i'm starting a 20g aquarium. i've done nothing with it yet. i've got a filter and a hood with a light.
i need to get some air into it i guess... what is better, air stones or those green tubes? or could i get one of those decorative air things (divers, or treasure chest)... if i got the decorative one, is that enough??

and more importantly, cycling... it seems so difficult... my first question is, where do i get the ammonia from? can i just pick it up from walmart or my LFS?

well, i guess that that is enough questions for now... i'm sure i'll have more later...

Air stones do the same as those long tubes, the tubes are just a bigger version. The decorative bubble divers etc. also do the same.
You only need extra aeration if your filter doesn't put enough oxygen into the water... what kind of filter is it?

As for cycling, try to get some pure ammonia, the cheap cleaning stuff is best. Give it a shake: you want some that doesn't froth a lot because that could mean it has extra chemicals like frangrance etc. You just want good ol' plain ammonia.

thanks for the help on the ammonia... i guess somehow i've been convinced into this fishless cycling...
now, do i have to test every day... i guess i'll start a thread and keep posting till i really get the hang of it...

well i do a test every other day cause i have the strips that run out quick. it depends what test kits u have. btw welcome!
