Hello, i am new to this forum. I am a student VN in the small animal sector.

I have a 80L square fish tank been filtering it for a week and am going to buy some fish tomorrow as recommended by the shop keeper, plan to buy about 5 and are going to build up. How many would you guys recommend in total, i was thinking about 20-25, along the line of neons, guppies, 2 gouramis (pygmy or blue powder), harlequin raspora and anymore i find and like but they have got to be small as my tank is not that big, last thing i want is to over-fill and have ill and un-happy fish.

Did you cycle the tank?
If not, read up about it before you buy any fish. Neons are not good beginner fish from what I've heard because they are delicate. Guppies will breed but they are generally good beginner fish. I'm not sure that two blue gouramis would be ok together because they are aggressive.

Yeah unfortunatly neons are really cool, but are kinda fragile when your just starting out. Zebra danio's are a good candidate to help with they cycle of a tank.
