Hi everyone
I was just curious as to how much flake to increase to from 5 cardinal tetras and added 4 guppies an 1 angel fish and 3 kuhli loaches and tiny frog in there not to sure of species of frog tho I normally feed them twice a day and 1 frozen blood worm cube a day but I’ve noticed some of my guppies and terras trying to eat from the bottom does that mean I need to feed them more or do need to increase feed anyway because of growing or am I over thinking lol

thanks for help in advance

I didn’t added all of them at the same time the 4 guppies angel fish and frog was the same time tertras was in there first then kuhli loaches for a week then the guppies angel fish and frog and the same time not sure weather that means anything just thought I’d add as I’m a beginner

Fish are opportunistic feeders and will eat whenever food is available. If they pick at the bloodworms on the bottom it is fine. However, I don't recommend keeping frogs and fish together because if the fish get sick, the medications used to treat them usually kill the frog. Frogs will also eat some small fish.

The best guide I can give you is to offer a small amount of food and let the fish eat it all. If they eat it all in 20-30 seconds that is fine and you can offer a little bit more. But if they don't eat it all in a minute, then you are feeding too much.

If you are feeding flakes, then crumble them up a bit before feeding so the pieces are smaller and easier for the little fish to eat.

That’s brilliant thank you I’ll try that also what signs should I be looking for to know weather one of them are sick and I was told the type I have wouldn’t eat them I was planning on Putting it in a different tank if It got any bigger as it’s roughly the same size as my cardinal tetras atm

Your angelfish is likely to go after the frog eventually. I second Colin to remove the frog.

You also need to provide proper sinking foods for the loaches or they will starve. Being largely nocturnal, by the time they come out the flake food is not likely to be still there--and it certainly shouldn't be as that is feeding way too much.

Angelfish get to six inches body length with a vertical fin span of 8 inches, so it needs space. No mention is made of the tank size.

You will find that many of us here will spot other possible issues even if the post was specific to one question. That's the benefit of a forum like TFF. And, welcome. :hi:

Sick fish will usually go off on their own. They might sit up by the surface gasping. They might do a stringy white poop or swell up and get really fat overnight. Look for red, white or grey patches on the body or fins. Look for white fluffy patches on the fish. Cloudy eyes can be a symptom.

Basically anything that doesn't look normal.

Most fish health issues are caused by poor water quality so if a fish does look off, check the water quality for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH and then do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate.

The following link has information about what to do if your fish gets sick. It's long and boring but worth a read when you have some spare time.

Hello and welcome to the forum, I had a mated pair of angelfish that grew to just over 6 inches and almost 5 inches (body) in a 55 gallon tank. I would not keep them in a smaller tank than that. The frog should probably be in its own tank with other frogs. Tetras are shoaling fish best kept in groups of 6 or more (the more the better) I fear that they will end up being lunch for your Angelfish someday.

hi that’s great thank you and my tank is a 60 litre tank sorry am new to forums aswel as new to taking care of fish am upgrading to a 160 or 200 litre tank end of then month and with the loaches that’s why I decided to feed flake twice a day once in the morning and Again with flake late at night 12 or 1 o’clock is that ok to do that or is it to much with the blood worm same time as the morning feed as was advised to feed flake before the the frozen blood worm so the frog and loaches could eat but not a lot of reaches the bottom but with the frog I was told the species I have only grows twice it’s size and got him the size of my thumb nail but am was not gonna put it in the bigger tank and keep him in the 60 litre and add some friends of some sort not what yet tho

also does that mean if once I get more tetras it will lower the odds of my tetras being lunch

Ok so a seprete tank for frog tetras and angel is my best option with other fish obviaously Which small fish could I have with angel as would like something like the cardinal tetras?
