Hi,
I'll introduce myself first I'm Chris and I'm from Edinburgh. Just recently started back into fish just set up my 5th tank today. I am having however having a bit of bother with it at the top of the water there is what looks like foam. I have got a log in tank which I rinsed under hot water can anyone help me ?

Hiya Chris, welcome to the forum :) Can you get a picture of the foam? Where did you get the log? Could it have had any sort of chemicals on it or are there any chemicals you have added to the tank recently?
Or perhaps something that could've been sprayed near the tank?

Hi :) just got it off Gumtree but washed it all down before filling. I've now emptied the tank and put ornaments and plants etc in buckets of hot water with plant and ornament cleaner in it. I've cleaned down tank and again and filled seems ok at the minute I will keep you posted. I never used any chemicals just got water when cleaned them initially

What substrate are you using? If it's sand then sand can sometimes cause foaming on the water level if sand isn't washed thoroughly before putting in the tank.

In my old tank I had this....mine personally was cause by algae and an aerator stone. Maybe there was algae on the log?

Yeah think it was the log I've took it out had it in a bucket of hot water since last night looks like quite a bit of algae on it. Thanks guys :)
