I help my 10 year old son look after a TropiQuarium 68, 72 litre, with a fluval bio life filter/heater.

We have had this tank for 4 and a bit years and had fantastic fish and also bread a number of fish.

Things went very wrong during a powercut 10 days ago and yesturday we lost every fish. I had to discard everthing in the Aquarium including the biolife filter contents.

At present the fish tank is empty and I want to clean it thoroughly before I add new water and start to neaturalise the tank again from scratch.

Please could you suggest how i should clean it and what i should use.

I would really appreciate any advice.

Thanks

Erica

 That is awful Erica all your poor fish :(

Welcome to the forum you will find lots of help on here.

Not sure about cleaning your tank I just gave mine a good scrub out when I started.

:hi:

Use hot water. I don't like using chemicals or soaps, out of fear that they won't all come out. Plenty of water should be good. Cycle the tank, do water changes, add some kind of ph target, put in meds to get rid of any disease that may be in there.

Good luck and welcome to the game

Thank you very much for your advice, i will use hot water, what meds do you suggest i use?

Any tablets that disinfect for bacteria and fungus. Remove the fitler catridge and medicate for one week.
