i'm pretty sure a pacu is just a vegetarian pirranah which loves WHITE BAIT.

You will have probably seen them before if you have a bad lfs round you, as they usually come dyed and are called 'painted glassfish' . It's annoying though because nowhere seems to stock the non-dyed kind, so i'll have to order them in.
They are very good looking fish (better IMO) without the dye:

But usually they when you see them they look like below + whitespot because the dye process makes them fragile . If you look at the pic below you can bacterial infection on the fins too...
