Hi. I'm Migsly. I have a pond with 2 fish in it. They are comets. The pond is small: 3'W X 4'L X 19"D. I know I could get more fish but the pond is quite active with frogs and everything. lol. I also have a fish bowl inside with an apple snail in it.

Sounds like your apple snail is living the good live having a bowl all to itself.

Hi Tetras: Thanks. I'm looking forward to posting here. Yes, the apple snail seems pretty happy to have its own space. lol. I named it Penelope. I just got it. I don't know if it's a girl or boy but I like the name Penelope so I named it that. lol. I am trying to figure out what she likes to eat. I've fed her a lima bean, a cucumber and a piece of cabbage so far. I also have a water-loving weed I pulled that she likes. lol.

Thats a great name for a snail. I don't own an apple snail myself, but I wonder if not they eat algae like other snails? If that's the case maybe some algae tabs would be good for it.

Maybe post in inverts section, if you need more info on it's care.
And yes really, how would one know if it's a boy or or girl, either way I'm sure it loves its name.

Thanks Tetras. I might pick up some algae tabs. I think its main course is algae in fact. I just put some variety of food stuffs in there for her enjoyment. I hafta change the water every day in the fish bowl on account I don't want bacteria to form. A snail doesn't mind the inconvenience I don't think. I don't have fish in there so I guess it's OK. She goes into her shell and I use the hose to flush out the bowl and she goes round and round and round. lol. If I were a snail, I'd think it fun. But you never know. Anyway, I have well water so I don't hafta put those drops in it.
