Hi Fin Lyretail Swordtail Fry

I have around 40 fry which came from a female Hi Fin Lyretail Swordtail and was just wondering when they would start to show their lyretails and when i would be able to sex them?

I read somewhere that you would get about a 50/50 mix of norms and lyretails, is this true?

Any info much appreciated!

Many lyretail males cant breed, this is if their gonopodium is elongated.

So have to breed with normal males.
You can get normal males which either do or dont carry the gene.

If they do carry the gene then ther fry will upto 75% laretail
If they dont carry the gene none on the fry will, however all ther fry will carry the gene to breed back to a known female.
