Hello there! I've been poking around this site all weekend and it's been a great help. Last week my 5 year old goldfish died, so I decided to move my 4 tropical fish (2 female mollies and a two cories) from my ten gallon tank to my 29 gallon tank that the goldfish used to live in. They looked so lonely in there with all that extra room, so I went out and bought some new fish. Not knowing much about them, just thinking that they were pretty. I bought a couple of mollies and a couple of platies. When I was leaving, the lady that was catching the fish for me said "Keep an eye out, I gave you a pregnant one." So I went home and started reading and found out that mollies, platies and guppies pretty much stay pregnant. (I bought some guppies a few days after I bought the mollies and platies). Looking through different sites, I found out how to sex the fish and how to tell which ones are pregnant and when they are about to give birth. Knowing that I had a few pregnant fish, I set up a 10 gallon breeding tank. 3 nights ago I was excited to come home and find a baby black molly in the big tank, and I could see that there were others hiding in the marbles. So very painstakingly, I cleared everything but the water out of the big tank and found seventeen black molly fry! They're now thriving happily in the breeder tank and they're SO cute. Because it was so much trouble digging the babies out of the big tank, I went out and bought some breeder nets, and last night I put my pregnant cremecicle molly into one of the nets. When I woke up this morning, I found that she had given birth over night! I'm having a blast with my new fish and I think this is a hobby that I will be sticking to for quite some time!
