I'm Joh - I'm a new fish person. Very new to the hobby. I had tanks growing up, but my mom mainly took care of those guys - I just picked out the fish to go in there, lol. I'm just starting now with my first tank. I have dogs, cats and a boa constrictor. I love learning about Baroque era France, playing video games and painting in photoshop.

I have a friend at work who got me into this craziness and now I'm hooked. I look forward to meeting everyone!

Welcome Joh!
What fish do you keep?
Hey there! I'm just starting out simple: two African dwarf frogs, three Endler's guppies and two black mystery snails for now. I have aquatic 'asperations' you could say, of one day owning a fire eel, but that's many steps from now. XD

Goal Fish being a Fire Eel People Unite!!! XD (Forreal,,,, one day!!)
Welcome Joh! I love exotic pets! I have a baby tree frog, 2 leopard geckos, a tarantula, not to mention my fish babies haha! I also love video games, it's great to meet you! Being a pretty new fishkeeper myself, trust me, this is the best and most welcoming fish community out there! Everyone here is so nice and helpful, you'll fit right in! :D

I must warn you that fish keeping is very addictive.
There are so many species available to us today.
You can even buy wild caught fish from South America or Africa.
The South America Geophagus, Satanoperca Jurupari, Discus, Apistogramma, Corydoras and the African Frontosa are amazing..
Some species of Frontosa are caught from deep water and they may need many hours to bring them up from the deep water.

In South America, you have the Amazon and Orinoco rivers which have thousands of animals...
The Amazon river has 5600 known species of fish.

In Africa, you have Lake Tanganyika(second deepest lake in the world at 4700feet), Lake Malawi and Lake Victoria.

In Asia, you can get the tiny fish Mosquito Rasboras from Indonesia, Panda Loaches from China and wild Bettas from Malaysia, Thailand, etc.

Besides fish, we have many inverterbrates like shrimps, crayfish, crabs, etc....

Here is a website of fish catalogs :

Let me know if you need more information about fish.
