So I'm a newbie, but learning as go.
In March I bought a 160ltr Marina tank with 2 Marina Slimline filters, some blue substrate and a few plastic plants. I knew nothing about the hobby when I bought the tank and looking back I wish I had spent a little more time reading about cycling, testing water levels and the benefits of live plants. I ran the cycle with 5 Danios and was quite please to see the levels even out after about 4 weeks.
Since then I have introduced some Columbian red fin tetras, Phantom tetras, a couple of Dwarf Gouramis, Corry's and just yesterday 12 Neaon tetras. I have also got rid of the blue pets at home substrate and have opted for sand and I have plated the tank out removing all plastic plants.
I'm now really into the hobby and I'm looking at introducing Co2 to the tank, I'd be really pleased if you guys could give me some feedback and any tips on reducing PH as mine is currently at 7.6 and any advice on softening the water and testing for this.
I have added some before and after pics to here: http
