weeel, most fish cant resist some bloodworm, you could try adding this into his/hers diet and maybe some daphnia. fish get bored with things too you know!

Welcome Rob. Good to see someone so young interested in fish. I tried to get my kids involved, with no luck. Here's a question for you. What would you do with an Electric Blue Jack Dempsey who broke her jaw when she rammed the side of the tank. She's 2.5 inches. She can no longer close her mouth at all. She's eating via the vacumme cleaner method.

ouch sounds nasty. came across this once before. she might heal herself overtime but it might take a while. the same thing happened to one of my coldwaters and that healed (he sice died from suffocation on a stone). but your fish should heal, it also depends on the severity of her injury. if she doesnt heal within say a month or so there are 2 options.

1, ask an expert for help and he may tell you to do the latter which is

2, if she is in pain and wont heal, the kindest thing to do would be to end her pain and suffering.

Hope this ccomes in useful

Rob

is this your fish by any chance?

She doesn't seem like she's in any pain. But it's been 3 weeks and her mouth still won't close. I'm gonna try to add a pic of her. Hope it works

thank you crazy

I was told I had two choices with my ebjd. I can keep her and baby her the rest of her natural life, or euthanasia. The second choice is not an option as long as she can eat and seems basically happy. She's still in the Q tank right now, but I'm going to try to reintroduce her to the community tank soon. I was going to put her in my cichlid tank, but I don't think she can defend herself if someone gets aggressive. I will just have to make sure she can get enought food in the community tank.

ok, good luck with her. If there are any more problems with her please feel free to ask me.

i have a large ebjd with a brocken jaw fish can live on with this but they are left very weak to other fish with no real form of defence. so may need to be kept with a happy partner or much smaller fish hope this helps steve
