Hi all,

My name is Ross and ive loved tropical fish for years but its not until recently ive been able to take it up properly.

Im starting with a 90l tank and some good filtration and heating and i plan to stock it gradually with some aprox 15 neons, mabie 4 tiger barbs and 1 or 2 butterfly plec cat fish (herbivore) well thats the initial plan but we will see i would love to have one ov the herbivore zebra catfish one day but i dont think they are really subtable for a beginer please correct me if im wrong i would probably get one of these over the butterflys.

Welcome to the forum!!-Best to keep tigers in a group of six or more-they look better and dont harass your other fish so much! :good:

Hello & Welcome Ross, I'm Ross also.

Anyway, regarding fish; Unless you really really want Tiger Barbs, I would not recommend them as they are fin-nippers and would not go well with quite a few attractive fish. (Angels, Betta, Gourami, Swordtails, Guppies..) >Just my view, like.

Neons tend to like a mature tank (about 6months up & running) and a lot die when added as first fish.

Livebearers such as Platies, Swordtails and Guppies may be good first fish, with maybe Danios and Corydoras Catfish or a small Bristlenose Pleco. (There is vast info on web/forums like this to gain knowledge on species of T.Fish)

Hope it goes well., RossT

Cheers for the tips guys.

Could i ask a little favor... And enquire what other fish people would advise for stock for a new tank. idealy i would like it to be visually nice even at the begining with bottom dwellers
