Hi Guys

Thought I'd just say a quick hi.
there done.. so erm...

well I'm new to all this, haven't got any fish as yet but shoud be getting them soon. Hopefully picking up the tank over the weekend, 2nd hand one come with light, heater, UGF, air pump(I think) some 'decorations' and maybe something I have forgotten about. I need to get some gravel for it and maybe a plant (not sure if live or plastic yet) and then some fishes

Anyway, was wondering if you guys could give me some 'beginners' advice on what sort of fish/plants etc I should be going for, and what I should be doing. I've read that I need to get gravel in tank and then leave turned on for a week or so, so I'll do that. Anything else I should be doing?

What sort of fish should I be going for? I some that are easy to look after, I guess all are if the Water is correct! some with nice colours and features/looks would be good.

hi,
welcome to tff,
letting a tank stand for a week wont make it ready for fish, you have to cycle it first, either with an ammonia source, or with some hardy fish, unless you could run your filter in someones mature tank for a while to build up the good bacteria the filter needs, if you look at the beginner section there is topics on how to cycle a tank. hth donna
