Hello, newbie here reporting for duty :D

About me:

I'm Guy, I am 20 years old and I currently finishing the final year of my Computer Science degree (to be honest, I don't like it that much  ) I have no idea what I want to do after my graduate, unfortunately. I live in SE UK, quite near London when I'm not at the University Of Reading.

I'm into computers, skiing, swimming, reading, films, socialising and all the other usual stuff. I am hoping to soon become a keen fishkeeper :)

I am very new to the whole fish lark, and currently have a BiOrb (don't laugh, it was a present!) but I'm not your typical 'OMG NEMOE in my 5 GALLON' noob. I will be getting a proper tank as soon as I have settled down. You know, got a job and a house and all that.

Well, that's about it. I know it's very boring for you guys to read all these newbie posts but I thought I'd follow tradition :p

Free is free and starting small is great. If you really love it you will find all you need to know quick. Good luck with the venture!

Hi and welcome! I had never heard of a BiOrb until I read your post. I went to check them out and ... WOW those are quite nice! I would love to have one around here. Although they fall into that ridiculously expensive category for me since one of them costs more than I spent on my 20 gal hex with light, filter, stand, food, chemicals and fish too.
Someone was very generous to give one of those as a gift and there is absolutely no reason to be ashamed of a nice 8 gal orb like that. I envy you :)

Well, once again, welcome and enjoy your stay!

hey, hope you like it here. Dont feel embarassed to ask silly questions, you should have heard the ones i asked when i started. anyway, fishkeeping is fun and dont wait to explore, we wont bite.

Yey! Nemofish! Hehe, only joking. Maybe when you get a bigger tank you can get a nice betta or two to go in it?

Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for the Orb and think it's really cool for a few platies and the like but I know that a lot of serious fishkeepers look down upon them, which is understandable.

As for your suggestion, OohFeeshy, that's not a bad idea :)

I'm really starting to get into it. Just the other day I was looking in the charity bookshop down the road from me and picked up a hardback copy of The Aquarium Owners Handbook (David Alderton) for 4 quid. Which is a bargain considering the price written on the sleeve is £12.99 ;)

hi-de-hi to you !!!!

I haven't heard that phrase since I moved to oz...you have made me homesick!!!

(I actually did a stint as a 'bluecoat' when I was at london uni :fun: )

:hi:
