hi can someone please id my catfish

Couldn't you get the picture any smaller?

Looks like a common pleco to me, but it's hard to tell.

If it's a common, it gets to 18 inches and eated veggies and the occasional meaty foods.

Active as a youngster and getting less and less active as it gets bigger untill you might as well replace it with a plastic replica.

Produces huge amounts of poop and needs well oxygenated water.

Looks a bit like mine, although mine is darker - Hypostomus Punctatus Pleco
It's disputable how big these grow. Mine is around 5" and has not grown in the last few months - we bought him at around 3".

They can grow up to 8"-12" in larger public aquaria and the wild, but rarely reach that size in the home aquarium.
Now i did a search on google for this catfish, and it comes up as Common Pleco alot, as far as i am aware Hypostomus Punctatus Pleco is not a common.

Several books i have on suckermouth catfish identify this as a different species/fish....
The books could be wrong i guess.

CFC is the man you want to ask.... im sure if he pops by he will correct me and tell you what the fish is.

From the small/medium image i would say Hypostomus Punctatus Pleco or possibly a Common.

From what i can see it looks very much like a common plec or one of the other Hypostomus species but with a slight possibilty it could be one of the Liposarcus species. With a picture that small and unclear a definate identification is almost impossible.

Looks like a common plec attached to some fresh cucumber to me, they do eat cucumber but it needs boiling for a bit first to soften it up.
