Hi everyone, my names Ant. Originally from Zimbabwe, living in Southampton, UK now.

Used to keep fish years ago in Zimbabwe, had a nice 4 foot tank with a nice variety of fish in it including neons, danios, guppies, Angels, Silver Dollars and Corrys.

I have had a small tank her for a while with a few neons, a Siamese fighter an couple of corrys and a plec in it and now have got a slightly bigger tank as the plec has outgrown the small tank !! Have got guppies ,danios and a couple of corrys in the new tank and will be moving the plec next week from my old tank into the new one.

Hi Ant , I am new to the forum aswell , your the first person from the UK I have spoken to on the forum, lol, I live in the South East but used to live in South Africa so we have a continent in common, unfortunately me and my family only holiday there now but we still have a nice farmhouse :). Anyway any questions ever just ask , I have kept and bred fish for quite a while. I currently have 2 Bedroom tanks a 4ft 300L and a 2ft 60L, a fish room with 15x 90L setups and a pond so i can cover most areas of the hobby and I am sure there are more then a phew others out there on this forum who can answer any of your questions or you could even answer theres :) and mine when i have them lol

Thanks for the welcome peeps! @ Sam, wow, u seem to really be into fish in a big way !! Cool. I just find it so expesive here!!

Hi Ant, and welcome to the forum.

@Sam, I'm surprised you haven't spoken to anybody from the UK yet, we have loads of members from over here(including me). :good:

you have to have a certain amount of posts before you can use your messages. I think it is either 10 or 25, but I can't really remember - Somebody else will probably let you know. :good:

I do love my fish, and I just hadn't spoken to many people from here but now I guess i have, Ant i know what you mean with cost a thousand times over. Things were definately a lot cheaper in SA and Africa generally then they are here but you soon get used to it or in my case my parents do lol :) I love my fish and have for a longtime , my family is involved in fish to a certain extent as well. My aunt owns Icklesham Koi which some UK members may know of and my grandad breeds Koi at the farmhouse in SA so... im quite involved in the hobby but I enjoy breeding rare colours in discus and mollys and attempting things rarely done such as breeding fish which usually cant be bred in a tank. I love to see a planted aquarium thrive and if a technical of mechanical problem comes up I am usually exploring DIY fixes and solutions to the problem before asking my parents to chuck some more money at it lol :) I think its more fun that way, by far the most amazing part of the hobby in my opinion is coral cultivation. I havent been doing it long and it is an extremely slow process but it is amazing. A struggle to think how I fit it all in most of the time as Im 14 going on 15 so have to juggle school aswell. But saying that i do have the aspirations of becoming a Marine Biologist like my grandad so... maybe its just in the blood. haha

Haha , a tank always looks bigger in the showroom/store than it does in the house, I hear that all the time that is why you should go by measurement not by eye lol. Why not buy another Ant I did lol
