Hi, I was cruising the web looking for answers to questions and I found this site, so to introduce myself, I am Lin, have a 50gl tank with 2 hoplosternums, 2 albino plecs, and 2 parrot fish. I did have two platties till last week but no longer.
The first one just disappeared about 3 weeks ago and the second I found dead last night... he had been munched, though before or after death I don't know.
They had lived happily in my tank for over a year and at that time the two parrot fish were big ones about 3 in tip to tail. One of those died ... probably old age and I replaced with a new feisy little one who is still only about an inch long. He chased the platties constantly but they all seemed to be okay.
What I was wondering was, how old do platties live for, can't seem to find that out on the web, cause I suppose it is possible they died of old age.... anyway if anyone knows, tell me.... shan't get anymore although I like to have a couple of small fast swimmers in there... they might get terrorised by my little parrot!!
