hi all

as i said im a total noob at tropicals just setup a 60litre tank with heater tested ph and its at 7.2 ish
will this be ok for my future babies lol and roughly how many fish can i keep in this size tank
i have also been told that shrimp do not add to your fish count obviously i would love to have as many fish as possible but without
causing them any harm or distress

thanks in advance

anthony

do you mind about the size of your fish? and have you read about cycleing, theres a link in my sig to the recourse centre, have a read about cycleing your tank

you could have guppies
neons
otos
and nano fish like chilli rasboras ect. (theres a thread on the forum i'll dig it up for you)

shrimp do add to the bioload of a tank, but no where near as much as fish, so if you had say 10 cherry shrimp there bio-load might be = to 1 guppie

Hi, Anthony, :hi: to the forum.

A pH of 7.2 is good for most tropical fish :)

It's hard to give you an amount of fish, as it all depends what species of fish they are! Some a bigger and messy, while some a re small and 'clean' (obviously they all poop a bit ;) )

Shrimps don't normally add to your bioload, no.

Can I point you in the direction of our beginner's resource centre? The link is in my sig, and you'll find many useful articles to have a look at there.

cant seem to find it... and i beat you to it fullter :p, also welcome to the forum

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your future pets.

As already mentioned, you'd need to cycle the tank first which can take 4-8 weeks time. Have a look at the link fluttermoth suggested.
Shrimp don't add to the bioload, but the food you feed them with does.
Most fish will be very happy eating shrimp, especially newly born shrimpletts so careful on the fish choice.

shrimp do add to the bioload, its just smaller than fish. amanos poo alot for example

wow thanks everybody wasn't expecting so much help so soon

We are trying to say that a starved shrimp won't add much bioload

Cherries have have a bioload that is about 1/4 of a neon tetra. BTW welcom to TFF!!! Hope you get more knowledge and wisdom!
