Im new and just wanted to say hey to everyone. I currently dont have any fish but have owned fish in the past. I owned two male bettas (in separate tanks) my first one (Fishy Fish) lived for 2 and a half years and the second one (Glare) lived for about 1 year. I learned that i can never to let my parents take care of my fish. I was out of town for a couple of weeks and when i can back everything was bad. Glare was dead and they didnt even know. But my first betta lived a long time IMO for being a betta. I also owned guppies but i only used them as food for my RES. Sorry if i offended anyone. lol

I want to go back into fish but i want to learn as much as i can before i do. One question though. I want to search for things but a message keeps coming out saying error. Im i doing something wrong???

Hi Vivi,
I am new to this forum myself, and I have found that in the most part, people are so willing to help with situations / emergencies or just general advice. I have been keeping fish now for 15 months now, starting off with goldfish in a 20 litre tank, to my new juwel 400 litre tank. The guys on this forum will help you get back into fishkeeping, and maybe get your confidence back to start the hobby again. Do u have a tank to start off with? What type of fish are you looking to keep?

serach is broken

Hey signman. thanx for the welcome

Well i am going to upgrade my turtles tank and im going to have an empty tank in the living room so im thinking about adding some fish. Its a 10 gallon tank and i know i cant add alot of fish but then again i dont want a lot of fish. lol i was thinking about tetras. I was at the petstore just looking around and found a lot of tetras i liked. I was thinking about having some True Rummynose, Diamond Head Neon, or Purple Emperor tetras. Im only going to keep one species though just haven't made up my mind. Since its only a 10g tank how many do you guys think i can keep there?? also i have a 40g filter in a ten gallon tank. Turtles need 3x the filtration then fish. and i was wondering if i can still use that filter with the fish. would more power mean more fish?? Also i was thinking about the Diamond Tetra, but its recommended that it be placed in a minimun of 20gs. but if i follow the 1 inch, 1g rule shouldnt i be able to keep 5???

Sorry for so many questions. Ohh and thanx for heads up with the search button being broken. I was starting to get mad. lol

If you want stocking advice, I personally have the wrong attitude. I am very guilty of the charge for overstocking my tank, and then thinking I can make up for it by sticking another filter in the tank. That is why I have such a big tank now. I don't feel so guilty. From the advice I have read on this forum, less is more. Personally I like Diamond Head Neons, but I haven't had much luck cos my red eyed tetras use them as fresh food.is it UK gallons or US gallon?

oops sorry knew i forgot something. Its US gallons. Im only going to have one species of tetra in the 10g tank. And i want to know if the filter(40g) would be ok b/c i dont want to buy another one. Its a Whisper hanging filter just in case it helps. Its one of these.

Ohh and signman i didnt get the less is more thing. sorry. lol

Less being less fish - more being more benefit to the fish, because the tank is not overcrowded. That filter is fine for the job. Just asked another mate of mine about stocking, and he said no more than 5 tetras. The less is more saying is obviously an English saying. cultural differences eh!

But my first betta lived a long time IMO for being a betta.

Not bad compared to most people I'd say. Just wanted to point out my first betta (which was also my first fish) lived for 5 years after I got him. But anyway, welcome to the forum :)

God Bless,
Joshua
