Hey everybody, I just found this site today on a different forum I post at. I really like your forum!

My nam is Austin, I'm 14 (15 in april) and live in northern Minnesota. I've been keeping fish for about six months now and have learned tons over the internet. I have 3 aquariums, a 20 gallon, a 10 gallon, and a 2.5 gallon. I currently have 6 fish. I baught my first tank (the 20 gallon) for $50 from my cousin. It came with the filter, background, sand, a rock and plants, and also 4 fish, 1 large pleco, 2 cory cats, and an 8 year old black tetra. since then the black tetra has died. I have 2 other fish in the 20 as well. 2 blood parrots. (I purchased these before I knew anything about fish, so don't freak, and tell me that they need to be in atleast a 55 gallon tank because I already know that). In my 10 gallon I have a very small angel... but I don't think she is going to live very much longer. I just can't seem to keep fish alive in that tank even though I take as much care of that tank as the 20 gallon. In my 2.5 gallon I only have snails in it. I am thinking of keeping a beta in there though. My plans for the ten gallon if the angel dies it to completely clean it out and wash everything and then fill it back up, let it se for a while and keep the filter running and then put some small fish in it like neon tetras and guppies.

(I guess that was some pointless information but oh well).

But anyways I'm excited to become an active member in this forum!

Hi Austin
Welcome
Sorry to hear about your ill angel. If you post symptoms etc in the emergency section someone may be able to help

Hi Austin and welcome to the fourm. :hi:

It could be that your 10 gallon tank isn't cycled and the ammonia and nitrite are the problem. Do you have test kits and have you tested the water? What are your readings for ammonia and nitrite? Also, are you using dechlorinator and what other chemicals, if any, are you using?

hey, thanks for the replies guys. Yes I have test kits. Everythign shows up fine though.... I just bought a new filter for it about a week ago and it's supposed to be good enough for a 10-35 gallon tank. Right now my angel is just sitting in a back corner of the tank.. not really doing anything. Yesterday when I was cleaning the tank I wasn't even sure if it was in there but then when I moved a plant it came swiming out. When I was done cleaning it just right back to the same spot. I haven't watched to see if it eats... I guess I should.. but yeah.. not really sure whats wrong with em...

What is the pH of you tank? Angels prefer a lower pH in the 6.5 or lower range. They can adapt to higher pH levels though as long as it isn't too high.
