hey guys, water-smell related question?

i guess i have become a bit lazy with the water changes (i mean come on people, anyone who has owned a tank for a year knows that it gets put off for a while).. anyways, all water tests of mine come up flawless, i even went for a 10-step water testing process at a lfs and it came up primo.. but heres the fuqqed up part:

i originally bought a starter aquarium kit (stupid, i know).. anyways, the 20 gallon pump filter that came with it croaked, and thank god its insured for life, and my lfs was out of the 20 gallon model so i got the even nicer one (30 gallon pump filter) at no charge.. which is DEFINITELY not a problem.. the only weird thing is, my water has always been awesome for not smelling.. and now, it doesnt smell bad, but when my hand goes in for instance and then i dry it off or whatever it smells like god damn plastic.. like a plastic-ish smell... i guess it cant be bad for the fish because all tests come up crisp.. but im a little confused regardless... whats the deal, fish experts? hook me up!

just because nothing shows up on the tests, doesnt mean theres nothing in the water the tests cant pick up. I'm not sure what could be making the plastic smell, did you rinse through the new filter before putting it in the tank? You dont know what chemicals might have been on it in the factory.....

the only sure way to tell if ur water is safe is go to a lab and get the water anylised.
