The best and easiest way of cycling your tank is by doing a fishless cycle. This is where you add pure ammonia to the tank, leave it and let the cycle take it's course. Whilst doing a fishless cycle, you have to monitor the ammonia level, the nitrIte level and the nitrAte level, so it would be best to go out and buy a API master test kit which costs around £20. You will also need a bottle of household ammonia which can be purchased from Boots for little more than £1.
