Hey new to the forum, so I just wanted to say what I had and all that. Note: I'm putting this topic in the New World Cichlid because I have a couple questions about this in a little bit. Well here goes...

75 Gallon

1 Green Severum: 4"
2 Gold Severums: 3", 2.5"
1 Sp. Convict: 1.5"
4 German Blue Rams: 1.5"
1 African Butterfly Fish: 2.5"
1 Bala Shark: 3"
1 Albino Cory: 1" (The rest dissapeared)
1 Gold Gourami: 3"
1 Blue Gourami: 3"
2 Clown Loaches: 2.5", 3.5"
3 Cherry Barbs: 1-1.5"
4 Flying Foxes: 2-3"
1 Albino Red Tailed Shark: 2.5"

Filteration
75 Gallon Undergravel Filter
Aquaclear 70 Powerhead
Magnum Canister (For a 100 Gallon I think)

As for the questions I was wondering whether I needed to lose fish, or if I could get something else such as a mid-sized cichlid, or a pleco.

lose some of the fish. its over stocked as it is. the 3 sevs would take up the tank for themselves with only a few other mid sized fish.

not to mention the rams will get killed!!!!!!

i'm also not surprised your cories disappeared!

sounds a bit overstocked to me.. I would also think the convict would cause a major problem..

I agree, you could keep one severum in there. Although i would get rid of the bala, they are schooling fish

oh, and welcome to the forums!

Ok...

The convict is small enough to where he does no damage yet, and as he matures if he wreaks havoc, then he can go to my dad's 125 gal. Theres a few full grown severums, 2 bala sharks and a couple other fish in that tank, so he couldn't do anything in there. I've had the bala for a couple months now, so hopefully my lfs will take him in. The redtail, no problem he can go back. The 125 gal needs some algae eaters, so I just need to grow a couple of the flying foxes big enough to survive in that tank. That way I could keep 2 as they are really good algae eaters in my experience. I could take the gouramis to my lfs also, as they are not that important to me, i don't like the looks of them anyway. I could take the smaller gold severum back, but is there a way around it? The cherry barbs and cory i am not worried about...soon to be expensive feeder fish anyway. cruel but true. The clown loaches are staying, and the ABF just floats on top and takes up no room at all. As for the rams, I am going to keep them until problems arise, and then I will take action as to finding a home for them. I have a empty 29 gal if need be. That would leave me with...

1 Green Severum
1 Gold Severum
1 Sp. Convict
2 Clown Loaches
1 African Butterfly Fish
3 Cherry Barbs
2 Flying Foxes
1 Albino Cory

why not put the extra bala in the 125? they prefer even larger groups but just adding a 3rd one should calm any twitchiness they're currently exhibiting.

I would, but I'm afraid of overstocking it too bad. 3 balas, about 5 severums, 2 pearl gouramis, and a silver arowana that will need a new home soon, it is still pretty small, 12" or so.

On Tuesday, the bala and both gouramis are gone. I am still debating as to whether I want to hand over the smaller gold severum at the same time. I'm pretty sure if I keep it the golds wont breed because they are both females. However, the green is a male and do they crossbreed?

Golds and Greens are the same species of fish, just different colour, so yes they will breed

I suggest you read the pinned topics in the forum before making any more major decisions

Good luck :)
