Hi am am new here, I stumbled upon this site during my quest for a larger setup. I have been fishkeeping for just over a year so I have a lot to learn, I have kept 2 18'' tanks successfully over the last 12 months. I have Neons, Black widows, corys and odessa barbs and until recently a very reclusive small bristlenose cat who managed to commit suicide. He was my favourite and provided my with great night-time viewing while down stairs sorting baby's midnight feed. He managed to get wedged between an ornament and the glass of the tank but looked like he was suckered on. I have previously lost a couple of neons and a cory possibly due to old age as they came with the set up. The loss of the bristle cat or 'Bog Brush' as he was affectionately known has driven me to seek a larger aquarium. The mrs has been driven to seek a new aquarium due to the fact she wants a tank to be part of the furniture and not just a fish tank.

Anyway, this seems like a great community and very friendly so a big hello to all of you.

Well, I have been viewing the forum for a couple of days now and I have to say the information I have picked up is fantastic.

I got into the hobby through my Mother and Stepfather so I usually take advice from them. Unfortunately I have discovered minor problems with their aquaria and I am waiting for the right time to bring it up. They own 2 48'' and a 30'' tank. They bought (mis sold IMO)2 walking catfish and 3 plecos a while back and as you can imagine they turned into monsters. The 2 walkers went mad when seperated and the plecos were dstributed throughout the 3 tanks. Unfortunately the fact that the walkers and the pleco in the 1 48'' tank and the fact they ate for england caused an inevitable mini eco disaster and the demise of the occupants. We tried to re-home the walkers but no one was willing to take them, I wish I had found this community earlier and perhaps we could have found a home for them. It seems my Stepfather has lost a bit of interest in fishkeeping and seems to be running his tanks down, not even bothering to set up the tank of death again. Hopefully once I get my new tank up and running and he comes to visit it may respark some interest.
