Ok, stupid question I know, but would a 15w flourescent bulb be harmful to hermit crabs? I'm not entirely clear on their lighting needs.

I wouldn't call that a stupid question, in fact I was hoping to see a good answer. I don't have any hermies right now, but I have had them in the past and thought I might get some to put in my old golfish tank that developed a slight leek near the top. It has a flouescen light in the hood, and I'm a little afraid it would dry out the hermies too much, but maybe it wouldn't if I keep plenty of water in it and keep it covered. I think my very first crab died of desication from being under a lamp after I had her for 5 years. She was the best crab. I never got another one to live that long. I almost got a heated rock for my crabs once, but I never put any light right on them.
